Labour & Industrial Relations Advisory

Our main role is to provide information and advice to members on industrial relations issues and workplace practices and to assist them in meeting their statutory Labour and Industrial relations obligations

Advocacy on Individual Industrial Complaints

Dealing with Industrial Complaints against an employer at the Labour Department can be time and resource consuming. An advantage of being a member of the Employers' Federation is that EFPNG's team of experienced industrial advocates can attend on the employers' behalf at no extra cost.

Industrial Disputes, Award Negotiations & Trade Unions

Trade Unions can be quite aggressive and tenacious in pushing their claims. The Employers' Federation as an industrial organization has the expertise and experience to respond to and avert potential and real industrial threats against its members and Negotiate Awards with Trade Unions.

Representation

Being the peak employer organization, we appear on behalf of our members at arbitration tribunals, government inquiries and industry meetings. EFPNG is a key partner in the development of the PNG Employment Policy which forms a major part of Papua New Guinea’s development policies.

Interpretation of Labour Laws and Regulations

In PNG, employment and industrial relations are heavily regulated by a complex set of legal instruments which place mandatory obligations on all employers. Our job is to interpret the legislation and regulations, so employers are aware of the mandatory processes and procedures contained in instruments.

Industrial Relations Training

EFPNG engages with employers through Training and Awareness sessions that update and upskill members on industrial legislations, issues and practices. Our wide range of workshops and information sessions are designed to help employers improve business performance and assist in addressing the demands of employment law and workplace regulations.

Information Dissemination

The Federation provides regular industrial relations updates through EFPNG Circulars for urgent matters that need to be communicated to members; and regular EFPNG Bulletins that keep employers up to date with the latest developments.
